
The Irymple Basketball Association is conducting the 2010TRI-STATE Junior Basketball Challenge for U12 to U18 boys and girls. The Challenge is on the Queen’s Birthday weekend each year, with games starting Saturday morning and finals on the Monday morning. In 2010, this will be from June 11th to 13th.
The TRI-STATE Junior Basketball Challenge is well supported by teams from South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria and is competitive secondary tournament.
Trophies are awarded to the winners and runners up of each division, as well as the Most Valuable Player in all grades and divisions. The winning team in each division receive a coveted TRI-STATE Champions Trophy and the most successful club overall is awarded the TRI-STATE Club Champion Trophy.
Entry fee: $250.00 per team payable with entry form. Please note team entry includes all door admission for players and team officials. Spectator entry is free.
Players must be under the age limit of their division as at the 31st of December of the competition year. Entries open in October each year closing on the 23rd of May of the year of the competition.
The competition is capped at 86 teams each year, so it's best to register early.
On Saturday night we will be holding a underage disco, alcohol free, for players and families at the Edge Hotel from 7.30p.m to 10.30p.m. This is a great opportunity for teams and families to interact in a supervised environment. Entry will be by gold coin donation and passes will be supplied. Adults will be able to utilise facilities at Hotel.
The Edge Hotel has recently expanded and are able to offer 45 rooms (including 13 two room family units - book early 03 50237011) Affordable discounted meals, restaurant and entainment all just a short distance from both venues.
To assist with your weekend on arrival teams will receive a discount pack which will be made available to visiting teams. These packs include various discounts at local businesses and attractions within the Mildura area.

Conditions of entry
- Participants must be under age as at 31st December 2010.
- The tournament will be conducted under official FIBA rules, all other rules as per VCBC.
- If a team is registered for Division 2 they may not have more than 2 City Division 1 or Division 2 players.
- If a team is registered for Division 2 they may not have more than 2 Mildura representative players.
- Each participating team must have a competent scorer and timekeeper.
- All players must wear registered uniform.
- Each team should have an alternate set of playing uniforms.
- To be eligible for finals a player must take part in at least two preliminary games. Players are to compete in one team.
- Players under suspension in any competition will not be eligible to compete.
- Teams must supply there own warm-up balls. Match ball will be selected from warm up balls.
- Size 6 basketballs will be used for under 12 and under 14 boys and all girls’ games. The 3 point rule will not apply to under 12 and under 14 boys or girls.
- Teams cannot commence a game with less than 4 players.
- For each minute a team is late, their opponents will be awarded 1 point. After 15 minutes the game is forfeited. The score shall read 10 nil.
- Points awarded: 3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss, nil for a forfeit.
- Ties for position will be decided on percentage of points for and against.
- Unless otherwise specified the top two teams will play off in the final including the 4 team draw,( where an extra round will comprise of 1v4 2v3 this game is for premiership points and percentage).
- The organizing committee reserves the right to combine Division 1 and Division 2 grades or cancel any division if insufficient numbers are received.
- The Irymple Basketball Association reserves the right to remove players, coaches, parents or spectators from the stadiums for threatening or abusive behaviour to officials, player’s coaches, parents or spectators.
