              MINIBALL

Miniball is an introductory basketball program for boys and girls attending Prep to Grade 3 (Kindergarten to Grade 3 in NSW). The program is player-centred, fun-focused and affordable to all. It provides opportunities to learn, opportunities to play with friends and to develop important social skills in a convenient safe and friendly environment. The local competition has been run for over 20 years, each year adding to the experience and knowledge of the organisers.

What are the aims of the Miniball program?

First and foremost Miniball is designed to be safe for children and to be enjoyable for both players and parents. Sessions emphasise involvement and are designed to gradually build confidence, create a positive outlook on physical activity and develop healthy lifestyles, team work along with the development of basketball skills. The program is specifically structured around basic introductory basketball skills.

How is the Miniball season structured?

Miniball players are placed into teams on registration day and a rotating draw is implemented. All teams participate in a 45 minute session each week, comprising a 30 minute game and a 15 minute training session. Coaches remain on the court during games to assist the players. Teams are made up of similarly aged children. The season is finished with a round robin day in which all teams play each other in 15 minute games. Grand finals complete the day and all players receive a medallion for participation in the season. The Winter season runs from February to June and the Summer season is from August to December.

In an attempt to keep costs down for families, all uniform singlets are supplied. Players need only ensure they have shorts and suitable footwear. Basketballs are also supplied.
